VOLUNTEERING ABROAD IN NAMIBIA

The project takes place in the N/a’an ku sê area, near Namibia’s capital Windhoek, where several programmes are active. Namibia, a country in South West Africa, is distinguished by the Namib Desert, which lies along the Atlantic coast. The country is home to a wealth of wildlife, including significant numbers of cheetahs. It is a unique country, characterised by the influence of various cultures during the German colonisation and reborn from the ashes of Apartheid in the 1990s with a new sense of unity in diversity; Namibian society is made up of at least 11 major ethnic groups, who take pride in their traditions and strive to work together to build a peaceful coexistence.

You will arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport, the main international airport in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. You must book a flight that lands in the morning, before 2 pm. You will find a driver at the airport who will take you to the project.

The Wildlife Conservation project volunteers stay in raised tents on the farm in N/a’an ku sê, near the capital Windhoek.

Below is an outline of a typical day for a volunteer.

In Namibia at 5 am the rooster crows!

08:00 – 11:00 | Activities with the animals on the farm

13:00 – 14:30 | Lunch break shared with other volunteers

14:30 – 17:00 | Activities continue

18:00 | Dinner

Be at least 18 years old and have a good knowledge of English.

The minimum stay is 2 weeks. Volunteers can leave throughout the year and freely decide how much time to dedicate to the volunteering experience.

The donation varies depending on the number of weeks of stay and the project chosen.

Your donation includes: food, accommodation, transport costs (pick up-drop off from the airport and on-site transport for project-related activities), 24-hour staff support, financing of materials needed for activities. Transfer to/from the sanctuary is provided on Mondays and Thursdays, if you arrive on other days the transfer will be subject to a surcharge.

Namibia is the perfect place for those who do not yet know Africa.
The peoples who inhabit it are repositories of ancient and profound wisdom, and here you will find the world’s oldest desert, sand dunes sloping down to the sea, mountains with a German name, endless plains of golden grass, big cats, elephants, rhinos and wild animals in abundance.
Volunteers will also have the opportunity to visit the famous red sand dunes at Sossusvlei.
