THE VOLUNTEER PROJECT IN ASIA - INDIA

The aim of the volunteer project in India is to improve the schooling of children and adolescents from to the most disadvantaged families in the hilltop village of Golla-Mandala and to complete and make welcoming the recreational and sports facilities.

Andhrea Pradesh is the Indian state where the project is located. The economic growth is clear, but at the same time there are many rural villages whose population is destitute.
Our partner operates in these most remote areas, giving support to children and adolescents in order to improve their school career and in general giving stimuli through extracurricular activities.
Thanks to the support of volunteers, the children of the community in Vijayawada province receive assistance and school support. In addition, the presence of volunteers can encourage ideas to get children and adolescents excited about school.
By participating in the volunteer project in India as a volunteer you will be able to take part in programs in the following areas of intervention:

TEACHING

You will work alongside the teachers or operators of our local partner by organizing English lessons (a very important language in India for the socio-cultural development of children), sports and recreational-recreational activities. Working in extracurricular facilities is a very stimulating experience for children, who will be able to compare and interact with people from another culture.

GIRLS’ SPORTS AND EMPOWERMENT

You will be able to organize activities as part of the “Girls’ Empowerment” project, with the aim of inspiring girls and adolescents to reflect on their condition and reach their potential. Among the activities, you can also offer group games, physical education lessons, volleyball and badminton matches.

CHILDCARE

In the Day Care Centre you will assist and play with children from 0 to 6 years old, you will encourage families to attend the after-school centre. You will be able to take care of the children by organizing games, art and hygiene workshops and helping them with their homework, always in cooperation with local operators who will guide you in the choice of activities and in the use of the appropriate teaching materials.  For older children (4 and 5 years old) you can also organize Montessori-style educational games (such as alphanumerical nursery rhymes, memory games, etc.) to help them transition to primary school.

Volunteers will also be able to spend time organizing workshops with the adults of the village to introduce them to the English language, including designing and building a library available to members of the community.

VOLUNTEER QUOTES

“Ho mangiato con le mani e seduta per terra, ho camminato scalza, preso i più assurdi mezzi di trasporto. Ho rallentato il passo, abbandonato l’orologio, chinato il capo e unito le mani, in segno di saluto ma anche di riconoscimento per un paese tanto ricco, tanto solare, tanto luminoso”.
